CITIZENSHIP RENUNCIATION & SURRENDER OF INDIAN PASSPORT

Persons of Indian Origin who have acquired foreign nationality are required to surrender their Indian Passports and renounce their Indian Citizenship at the nearest Indian Mission/Post immediately after acquisition of foreign citizenship. Further, they should not travel on the Indian Passport after acquisition of foreign citizenship. Under Section 12(1A) of the Passports Act, possession of Indian Passport by foreign nationals (including Indian nationals who have acquired foreign nationality) is a cognizable offence.

• Apply at Renunciation of Indian Citizenship under Section 8

Required Documents:

•  Foreign Passport
• Valid Civil Id
• Indian Passport
• Naturalization Certificate (It should be attested by Concerned Indian Mission or MoFA Kuwait)
• Copy of one Indian witness passport and civil id (Self Attested)
• One Photograph
• Receipt of fee payment online

Fee - INR 8000 (This fee can be paid online by the applicant. This will be charged in Indian rupees)

Note: Once the application form is submitted online by the applicant, no further modifications are allowed. Therefore, applicants are requested to carefully verify the details before submitting the online application. • Register by clicking on "Register" Link
• Login with the registered login ID and Password on "User Login" link
• In the Applicant Home Page, click on "Apply for Surrender of Indian Passport
• After successful submission, take a printout of the online submitted form

• Naturalization Certificate (It should be attested by Concerned Indian Mission or MoFA Kuwait)
• Copy of one Indian witness passport and civil id (Self Attested)

Note: 1. Renunciation of Indian citizenship and Surrender of Indian Passport are two different processes. Both Certificate (Citizenship renunciation certificate and surrender certificate) are mandatory and must be sought by any Adult applicant who acquired foreign nationality.  Minor applicant are not required to fill an online declaration for Renunciation of Indian citizenship through the MHA Portal. They are only require to complete the online application for Passport  Surrender Certificate.
2.         After submitting both application online, take a printout of both applications (Renunciation application and Application for Surrender of Indian Passport) and visit embassy with all the documents in original and copy(2 copy of each required documents). All copies of documents should be self -attested (signature & date).
